News from State FFA.  Tasha Lechtenberg placed 1st in Ag Communication Proficiency and is in the top four in Job Interview.  Brady Wakefield placed 1st in Equine Science Proficiency.  Both of these students will be going to Nationals which are held in Indianapolis.  Our FFA Chapter was awarded a Chapter Award of Excellence which means they are in the top 10 FFA groups in the state.  Great Job!!!

The O’Neill Track Invite is April 12.  Any student wishing to help at the meet please see Mr. Hostert.  You must be passing all your classes in order to help. 

 “O” club members planning to travel with the group to Minneapolis need to have permission slips and your deposit money to Mr. Hostert by NOON TODAY.  A final ticket order will need to be placed at that time.  Please see Mr. Hostert if you have any questions.  ALSO:  The $5 Timberwolves t-shirts that “O” club members are ordering are only available in large or xl.  Other options include: 1) hat 2) howl towel 3) your $5 back.  Please change your order outside Mr. Hostert’s TODAY. 

Seniors:  A reminder that local scholarship due dates are rapidly approaching.  Students going to a 2 year college, do not forget to apply for the Weller Grant which is due April 1.  ALSO:  The Eastern Star Scholarship committee will be picking up the Eastern Star Scholarship applications on Friday, March 30.  If you plan on applying, have your application in the guidance office by Thursday, March 29.

Any student who is interested in being a soccer referee there will be a clinic on Saturday, March 31 at the Anex.  Start time is 9 am to approximately 3 pm.  If you have any questions please contact Amy Halsey at 402-482-5621.

ALL KIDS WHO ARE TESTING WILL REPORT TO ACTIVITY BUILDING
½ TEST = 90 MINUTE SECTION OF A TWO TESTS IN EACH SUBJECT AREA
Tuesday, April 3, 11th  grade will test 1, 2, 3 and 4th  period in reading.  They may come back to class prior to the end of fourth.  
Tuesday, April 3, 8th  grade will test during 6th  and 7th period - 1/2 of their science (one 90 minute test).
Wednesday, April 4, 8th  grade will test in Science during 1st and 2nd periods, so please plan on them being back for 3rd period.

There will be a short speech meeting for returning speech members with Ms. Polinoski, TODAY in Mod 1 at 3:35.  Please bring interp books for check-in and $10.00 to pay for state speech t-shirts (if you ordered one).  We will be discussing end of the year party and other things.

ATTENTION MUSICAL CAST - All cast members are expected to be at rehearsals from here on out, regardless of what act you are in.  A reminder that rehearsals need to BEGIN at 7:00 pm.  Finish memorizing your lines, no more books on stage.  Any cast members who are available to help with set painting and design, there is a schedule on the music room door.  Keep up the great work and let's make this musical an amazing one!

FFA Office applications are due to Ms. Knabe by 3:30 pm on Tuesday, March 27th (TOMORROW).

All FFA Members going to state convention need to check with Ms. Knabe to confirm when you are leaving O'Neill. The schedule has changed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There are two groups from Ohio that will be in the building TODAY to look at the 24/7 program. 

Juniors and Seniors interested in learning more information about the University of Nebraska at Kearney, a representative from UNK will be here TODAY at 2:00 p.m.  See Mr. Fernau or Mrs. Ludwig for a pass.

The DC 2013 parent meeting will be TONIGHT at 7:00 P.M. in the high school library. 

There will be a very quick Prom Committee Lunch meeting TODAY to make decorating committees and get a t-shirt designed.  Prom Committee members, please get your lunch and report to Mrs. Gotschall's room today.  Attendance will be taken.

ALL MUSICAL ENSEMBLE CAST & MAIN CAST IN ACT 1 - rehearsal TONIGHT at 7:00 in the music room, not the stage.  We will be rehearsing music from Act 1 Scene 2, which involves all munchkins.  Rehearsal of this music is expected to go from 7 to 8.  Additional songs will be rehearsed with main cast from 8-9.

Seniors:  Two new scholarship applications are now available.  Applications for the “Linhart Family Youth Scholarship” are available.  This scholarship is based on written essay, recommendations, high character, good citizenship, and moral conduct.  The Scholarship is due April 15, 2012 and can be picked up in Mrs. Ludwig’s office.  Applications for the American Legion Riders Scholarship are due April 1st and can be picked up in Mrs. Ludwig’s office.  Remember that most local scholarships are due April 2.  Make sure to check the due dates and turn in your local scholarships to Mr. Fernau or Mrs. Ludwig unless directed otherwise.

On Monday April 9 the “O” club will travel to watch the Minnesota Timberwolves take on the Phoenix Sun at Minneapolis.  7:00 pm game time.  A $25 deposit is required to hold your spot.  Please make checks payable to OHS and give them to Mr. Hostert by Thursday March 29.  You will get $20 back when you get on the bus.  The additional $5 is for a hat or t-shirt.  Please list your t-shirt size on the sign-up sheet outside Mr. Hostert’s office.

Cheerleading tryouts for the 2012-2013 Fall and Winter squads will be held on March 28th.  This is available to all students grades 8 through 11. Practices will be held in the morning on March 26th, 27th, and 28th. There will be a short meeting after school on March 23rd. There is a sign up sheet outside of Mrs. Kelly's classroom if you are interested in trying out.
