Anyone who has an athletic locker should plan to clean out your locker and take all items home over the holiday break.  Please remove your lock as well as the custodians will be cleaning this area.  You may have your locker back upon return from break.  Any questions please see Mr.Hostert.

Thanks to all who donated to the CNCS Food Fight.  The high school collected 2241 items (WOW)…while this did not make our goal of 2500 it is still the 2nd highest amount on record – great job!  The giving was spread more evenly among classes this year.  It’s good to see more student get involved.  Thanks also to all staff members who encouraged students and donated themselves.  The numbers are not in for St. Mary’s yet, so the Food Fight winner will not be announced until they are received.

Congratulations to Mrs. Barelmann’s class for winning the Food Drive competition with 425 items donated.  Special recognition goes to Mrs. Pongratz for 341 items and Mr. Olander/Ms. Knabe, Mr. Mueller, and Mr. McNichols for collecting over 200 items.  Totals are posted at the Guidance Office.

Speech Team:  Sign up for practice this week outside of Mr. Mohr's room.  You are required to practice at least one time per week from now on.  If you ordered a t-shirt and haven't paid for it, come in with $ 10 and get yours.

Juniors and Staff:  The ASVAB has been rescheduled for December 10th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  All juniors will be taking this test.  See Mr. Fernau if you have any questions.

There will be an organizational meeting TONIGHT at 6:30 pm in room 115 for all students interested in participating in National History Day.

There will be a meeting TODAY during 4B lunch in Mr. Mohr's room for any 7th or 8th grader interested in joining the new Junior High Speech Club.  Bring your lunch and come find out about this new organization!

Thanks to all who helped in any way with the Blood Drive.  53 donors were registered with 42 units of blood collected.  This includes 19 first time donors.  Great job!

The Student Councils of OPS and St. Mary’s (grades K-12) have challenged each other to a “Food Fight” to benefit the CNCS Food Pantry.  This Food Drive will run November 30th through December 7th.  The school which donates the highest average # of items for each student and staff member will be declared the “winner” with the true winners being the families helped by this project.  All donations are appreciated!

OHS will have a competition between 4th period (4C for JH) classes for the Food Drive.  The class who donates the most items will win a lunch provided by the Student Council.  The Food Pantry has been hit hard this year with many more families needing help.  The highest donation total for the Jr/Sr High on record is 2456.  Let’s top that with this year’s goal of at least 2500 items.

Big congrats as well to Douglas Stahlecker who was named Best Supporting Actor for the competition. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

There will be a meeting for all girls playing girls basketball TODAY at 3:20 in the lecture hall with open gym to follow. 

Vets Program:  Be reminded of the program at SM.  We will leave as a school at 10:15 a.m.  (Program begins at 10:30 a.m.)   If the weather is poor (misty or raining)….we will arrange for busing.  We will walk if weather permits…… Again, please sit with your class as a group….  This usually lasts about 45 min. to an hour….We’ll return to 4th period.
The Junior class meeting on Friday.  We will be discussing Prom related decisions and to form a prom committee.  Attendance will be taken, so be there please. 

Juniors/Seniors:  A recruiter from the United States Air Force will be here TODAY at 1:00 pm  See Mr. Fernau for a pass.

There will be a Student Council Lunch Meeting during 4 B&C on Tuesday, November 17th.  All members please plan to attend.

There will be an FFA Officer and Committee Chair meeting Friday during 4B in the Ag Room. If there is a conflict with classes, please let Ms. Knabe now.

The pop/juice machines are not to be used for change making purposes.  This runs the machines out of change and they will not dispense pop/juice if this occurs.  NO refunds will be given if you are using the machines to make change.  The dollar dispenser for the snack machine should be repair by early next week. 

Mock Trial Competition TODAY at 12:30 pm -  Red Team performs in the County Courtroom; Blue Team performs in the District Courtroom.

Juniors and Seniors:  The guidance department is planning a van tour to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday, November 13th.  The tours will include a campus visit, programs available, and financial aid possibilities at the two universities.   If you are interested in going, see Mr. Fernau in the Guidance Office by Friday of this week.
