SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Stef Gilson of Avera St.Anthony’s Hospital will again be offering Athletic Performance Sessions this summer at O’Neill High School.  Please pick up forms from outside Mr. Hostert’s office.  

Physicals will be offered for O’Neill JH/SH clinics this summer.  Forms are available at each clinic.  Any student in grades 6-11 that will be participating in PE or athletics will need a physical for next school year.  You will need to bring a urine sample and please note the following information for each clinic in O’Neill:
Avera Holt County Medical:  Physicals given June 1-August 15.  Cost in $15 and please call the clinic (336-4113) to set up an appointment.
Avera O’Neill Family Practice:  Physicals given on June 17 and July 28 (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) free of charge.
Elkhorn Valley Medicine:  Physicals given on May 25th (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm) and July 27th (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm).  Cost is $5.

Athletes  -  Mr. Kallhoff will be staying in the weight room through TODAY after school to max out anyone who wants to get their programs updated for summer lifting.  People who should take advantage of this are those of you who are not in a conditioning class, girl athletes, and any boy who has yet to complete this.

  7thgraders there are only 3 days left for you to pay your class dues! GET IT DONE!!

  Freshmen that still owe class dues on the last day of school will have to pay $10 and be the last to check out.

Attention all readers:  Book Club met for the last time for this school year yesterday and set up a summer reading schedule and agenda.  Books to be read include 1). Breaking Point  2.) Witness  3) To Kill a Mockingbird 4) In Cold Blood 5) Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close 6) Willow 7) The Good Earth.  This is for starters.  Our first meeting will be at Encore, 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26.  Please join us.  If you would like to be part of our first discussion, pick up a book from Mrs. Crumly.

The Boys golf team will have a meeting TODAY at the 38 building so you can get your equipment turned in and hand out awards.  Be there at the 38 buildings at 4:00 to get stuff turned in.  This includes bags, polos and rain gear.

CC Meeting TODAY at 12:15 in room 224 for 8th -11th graders interested in going out for high school cross country next fall.   Make sure you get a pass from me to come if you're not in lunch.  Anyone is welcome to come and listen.

Congratulations to Blake Bauer for Qualifying for state in golf.  He shot a 81 and placed 9th.  The Team shot a 343 and placed 6th.  Luke Loecker shot a 85, Cody Belzer shot a 88, Dalton Jackson shot a 89, and Ian Lueninghoener shot a 102.  Congratulations to the boys golf team on a very successful season.

 SHOW CHOIR TRY-OUTS are scheduled for TODAY in the music room.  If you want to be part of a high energy, singing, dancing, competitive performance group, the show choir is right for you!  Being in the Chamber Choir is NOT REQUIRED to join the show choir.  You must be in grades 9-12 for next year.  Please sign up for a try-out time on the bulletin board outside the music room door and pick up audition materials from Mr. Jaques.  The season begins the first week of November and runs through February ending in 3 competitions and a tour!  Sign up to join today!

There will be a Student Council meeting on Wednesday, May 19th at 7:45 a.m. in Mrs. Pongratz’s room.  All members and new officers please plan to attend.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Results of the Student Council elections:  Pres/VPres – Jennie Bosn & Austin Ducker 116; Nathan Wabs & David Akainda 82;  Secretary – Allison Depko and Treasurer - Molly Shane ran unopposed and won by landslides.  Congratulations and thanks to all candidates.  We were fortunate to have great leaders who were willing to run for office and make it a close race.  Both tickets ran excellent campaigns.

There are several lost keys that have been turned into the office this year.  Please stop by the office to see if any of them belong to you.

FCCLA members  - Remember we clean the highway after school today.  Meet in Mrs. Mann’s room.  Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes.  You might want gloves also.

  Students, you may no longer pay online for your yearbook.  The deadline has passed.  Many of you have not yet purchased your book, so Mrs. Gotschall will extend the deadline to pay for up for 1 WEEK ONLY!  You must bring your payment stub that you received in the mail with the correct amount for your book.  If you are not sure how much you owe, please see Mrs. Gotschall in room 212 ASAP.  NO PAYMENTS will be accepted after Monday of next week.  Hurry so you don't miss out!

  Any girl in 8th - 11th grade interested in going out for Girls Golf, there will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m. in Room 214.

  Due to the jh high track meet.  The cross country meeting will be Wednesday at 12:15 in room 224 for 8th -11th graders interested in  
going out for high school cross country next fall.   Make sure you get a pass from me to come if you're not in lunch.  Anyone is welcome to  
come and listen.

  Starting Monday May 17th and going through Thursday the 20th, Mr. Kallhoff will be staying in the weightroom after school to max out anyone who wants to get their programs updated for summer lifting.  People who should take advatage of this are those of you who are not in a conditioning class, girl athletes, and any boy who has yet to complete this.

 SHOW CHOIR TRY-OUTS are scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th in the music room.  If you want to be part of a high energy, singing, dancing, competitive performance group, the show choir is right for you!  Being in the Chamber Choir is NOT REQUIRED to join the show choir.  You must be in grades 9-12 for next year.  Please sign up for a try-out time on the bulletin board outside the music room door and pick up audition materials from Mr. Jaques.  The season begins the first week of November and runs through February ending in 3 competitions and a tour!  Sign up to join today!

SHOW CHOIR informational meeting Friday right after school for all who are interested in trying out for the Show Choir for the 2010-2011 school year in the music room.  Refreshments will be provided.

Physicals will again be offered for O’Neill JH/SH clinics this summer.  Forms will be available at each clinic.  Any student in grades 6-11 that will be participating in PE or athletics will need a physical for next school year.  You will need to bring a urine sample and please note the following information for each clinic in O’Neill:
Avera Holt County Medical:  Physicals given June 1-August 15.  Cost in $15 and please call the clinic (336-4113) to set up an appointment.
Avera O’Neill Family Practice:  Physicals given on June 17 (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) free of charge.  Also on July 28 (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) free of charge.
Elkhorn Valley Medicine:  Physicals given on May 25th (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm) and July 27th (5:00 pm to 7:00 pm).  Cost is $5.

Congratulations to the boys golf team in their winning first as a team at the conference meet yesterday at Friend shooting a 363.  Also congratulations to Blake Bauer for his individual first place at the meet.  He was the only golfer to golf in the 70’s with a 79.  Luke Loecker placed tied for fourth with an 88 while Cody Belzer placed tied for 9th with a 95.  Grant Litz shot a 101, Braden Baseggio shot a 102 and Dalton Jackson shot a 107. 

Congratulations to Ian Lueninghoener for shooting an 86 and placing 17th at a very tough Wayne Invite.  Other scores for O’Neill were Riley Chohon 98, Cameron Deane 100, and Nolan Swanson 106.

Elections for Student Council officers for next year will be held on May 14th.  To be eligible for an office, students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 and have no failing grades from the previous semester.  The president must be a senior next year, the vice-president a junior, and the secretary and treasurer may be a sophomore, junior or senior.  The president and vice-president will run together as a team.  Prior membership in Student Council is not required to run for an office but is beneficial.  All qualified, willing and interested students who are committed to make our student body the best it can be are welcome to seek office.  See Mrs. Hull for more information.

If any high school students are interested in applying for Developing Eagles teacher positions for the upcoming 2010/2011 school year, please stop by the office and pick up an application. 

All football players:  Many of you still have not turned in your goal sheet or your parent handbook form.  Hand these into either Coach Kallhoff or Coach Brown asap. Those missing one or both of these include Jacob Bennets, Tony Castro, Derek Krieger, Jackson Latzel, Marcus McNichols, Cole Aufdenkamp, Morgan Sterns, Josh Womack, Travis Schmitz, Michael Skopec, Mark Vavra, and Alejandro Vergara.  There is only 12 of you left to do this…. Don’t be the last one.

Any student who is in any activity are welcome to attend the Activity Awards Night TONIGHT @ 6:30 pm.

There is an FFA Officer Meeting today during 4B, please release officers from class with their pass at 11:40.

A reminder that THIS WEEK ONLY, you may bring your yearbook payment to Mrs. Gotschall in room 212.  You must bring your statement that came in the mail with the EXACT payment.  If you did not order a yearbook, but would like to, you may also come order one from Mrs. Gotschall.  The cost is $43.00.  Please bring the exact amount or make checks out to OHS and put Yearbook in the memo.  

 If you are a student who is interested in, or is already signed up for, the 2011 Europe Trip; there will be a meeting Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30 PM in Mrs. Gotschall's classroom (212).  Students should be at least an 8th grader this year to qualify.  Parents are encouraged to attend as well.  Please contact Mrs. Troester or Mrs. Gotschall by email if you have any questions.

Congratulations to the boy’s golf team on their first place finish at West Holt.  The team beat Elgin Public/Pope John by two strokes.  Blake Bauer placed 4th with a 83.  Cody Belzer placed 11th with a 90 and Luke Loecker placed 13th with a 90 also.  Braden Baseggio shot a 93 and Grant Litz Rounded out the scoring for the eagles scoring a 95.

We will be showing the Senior Video Wednesday, 4B in the gym and on Channel One.

A list of students who will be formally recognized at Honors Convocation on Tuesday, May 4th, is posted outside Mrs. Hull’s office and at the front office.  ALL OPS students, families and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend Honors Convocation.  Hope to see you all there!
