ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students:  We have an assembly today at 1 p.m. in the OHS gym.  Students in grades 7-12, along with 7-12 students from St. Mary's will hear Mr. Ricky Simmons share his experiences with drugs and his road from playing for the Huskers and in the NFL to being sent to prison.  Students in grades 10-12 will be allowed to sit in the balcony.  Students in grades 7-9 will sit in the lower bleachers.  It will be a full house!

Senior Athletes:  We will be taking poster pictures TOMORROW  AND WEDNESDAY AT 11 AM IN THE GYM. You are able to choose any uniform that you wish, however, please check with your coaches for availability of the uniform.  If you have any questions please contact either Nick Hostert or Cheryl Ludwig.

Seniors:  If you wish to participate in the senior noon lunch privilege, you must return the student/parent signature form to the office before lunch today.  You may not participate until you return the completed signature forms.  Also, remember you must remain in good academic standing and maintain good school attendance.  This is a privilege!

Students:  Homecoming is just around the corner (September 13-18).  I am considering some options to replace the traditional hallway decorating activity during homecoming for this year.  I am interested in hearing your thoughts.  Send me an email or stop in.  I will be talking with student council to address this activity and possible options.

Three River has partnered in providing live broadcast high school football games this fall.  O'Neill High School was fortunate enough to be included in this group as our Sept. 11 game at Pierce will be broadcasted live on channel 970 cable TV.  Channel 970 is a new weather channel (Weather Nation) where these games will be played.  Looking forward, two additional channels (971/Nebraska Channel News & 972/Antenna TV) will be added. All cable TV subscribers should check out channel 970.

On September 1 at 9:50 am O'Neill JH/SH will host a bus evacuation drill.  Students will be dismissed by intercom to the East parking lot.  Each group will take about 10 minutes and teachers be on the bus with your class.

Eagle fans traveling to Wayne TONIGHT for the football game should be aware of the following road construction on the WSC campus.  The road South of the football stadium is under repair.  Visitors sit on the East bleachers and the best way to reach the stadium for Eagle fans is to not take the West entrance.  ALSO:  There will a tailgate party before the football game TONIGHT. This is a little different tailgate.  It is like a cook off.  Several people from around town grill one of their favorite meals.  People try portions of what is cooked and then make a donation to the cook who they feel has the best food.  The cook with the highest amount donated is the winner of the cook off.  The proceeds go to the Wayne Community School Foundation.

On September 1 at 9:50 am O'Neill JH/SH will host a bus evacuation drill.  Students will be dismissed by intercom to the East parking lot.  Each group will take about 10 minutes and teachers be on the bus with your class.
