The Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education in the College of Education and Human Sciences at UNL has secured a STARTALK grant that will provide funding to support a 14 day Chinese Language, Cultural and Technology Summer Academy for 25 NE high school students.  This year they are specifically targeting the Academy to students who have no or very  little knowledge of the Chinese language.  See Mr. Brosz if interested.

There will be a Respect Retreat for all 9th and 10th grade students on February 28th at Faith Community Church.  It will be from 9 am until 2:30 pm and lunch will be provided.  You will come to your first period class and then you will be bused to the retreat.  This is a required school activity and attendance will be taken.

There will be a pep rally TODAY at 2:50 in the high school gym.  The FFA will finish up FFA week with their annual “kiss the pig” followed by the pep rally.

2012 ONE-ACT PARTICIPANTS: Posters are ready to order from Studio B Photography! If you would like one, you may mail your order (include how many posters, your name, address, and phone number) and a check for $25 to: Studio B Photography,  Box 100, Chambers,  NE 68725.  Tammy will also run a special for those who did not get a poster last year: $45 for both 2011 and 2012 posters. Be sure to share this information with your parents!

Speech Team:  We will have our group practice on Thursday of this week.  Next week practice will be on Thursday, also. Please plan your schedule around this.  We have only one more regular season meet on the road and want to be ready.  Either at that practice or before, you can order your team t-shirt.  Shirts are $10 and you can give the money to Mrs. Crumly or to Mrs. Pongratz.

OHS Students and Parents, the yearbook staff is placing orders differently this year.  Rather than students filling out order forms in classes, you will get a direct mailing from Jostens with the yearbook offer for this year.  It includes all the information you will need to order your book and also includes your payment options.  Students do not need to bring anything to school to pay for their book.  All orders can be placed by simply following the instructions included in the mailing you receive, and if you have questions, there will be contact information included in that mailing as well.  Thank you!
